Taking care of a newborn makes you appreciate life’s little pleasures more than anything else: enjoying a cup of much-needed coffee, showering after many days on dry shampoo, sleeping an extra twenty-three minutes, or putting on your cosiest pyjamas are considered luxuries in the newborn phase.

During those first few months, you may spend an absurd amount of time in your PJs, especially if you plan to breastfeed. That’s why it can be helpful to stock on dreamy nursing pyjamas. They’ll keep you comfortable during chilly nighttime feeding sessions, and make nursing easier.

Do You Need Pajamas for Nursing?

Research has shown that comfortable and complimentary clothes can positively impact a mother’s emotional well-being, which is extremely important during those first postpartum weeks and her ongoing breastfeeding journey. Nursing clothing, including nursing sleepwear, created with functionality and style in mind can boost your confidence, resulting in a stronger bond between you and your baby. Investing in comfortable and stylish nursing sleepwear is investing in yourself and your well-being.

This is because nursing pyjamas have a pull-down or pull-apart fabric at the chest, making them specially made for nursing. During late-night feedings, they cover the rest of you so you stay warm. The added benefit? Because of their stretchy fabric or looser fits, you can wear most of them as maternity pyjamas, which is a smart choice since you’ll get a lot of use out of them.

Created from soft, stretchy and breathable materials prioritising comfort, breastfeeding sleepwear provides a flexible and forgiving fit, accommodating a mother’s changing body shape. You can relax, feel free to move and enjoy breastfeeding, no matter how much time it’ll take.

How to Choose Nursing Sleepwear?

source: mothertobaby.org

After a baby is born, life drastically changes! Everything can feel so different, and days and nights can blend. Having a brand-new pair of fashionable yet comfortable nursing pyjamas to throw on in the morning (or lunchtime, or afternoon!), or whenever you feel exhausted from caring for a newborn, is the greatest feeling in the world. They’ll make nursing more comfortable and help you feel more like yourself in those early days. But what should you search for?

Temperature Regulation Properties

Women are frequently impacted by hormonal changes during and after pregnancy, which can result in uncomfortable temperature fluctuations like postpartum chills and night sweats. Temperature variations can disrupt our sleep patterns by preventing us from entering the deep sleep phase and, as a result, from getting enough rest during the night.

Besides the temperature fluctuations resulting from the hormonal changes, regular breastfeeding requires taking around 500 calories more than usual, meaning it’s a demanding body metabolic process. It also helps release energy, which can keep your body warm overnight.

Because of that, opt for nursing pyjamas made of fabrics that will move and breathe with you. Such smart fabrics will keep you in the ideal thermal zone throughout the night to help you get the rest you deserve during this significant time and prevent night sweats. You won’t have to worry about being hot or cold at night.

Features for Moisture Management

Night sweats are another consequence of the hormonal imbalances mentioned above, and they are quite common during pregnancy and while nursing. Like hot flashes, these episodes can make it difficult to get a good night’s sleep because the sweat can keep us awake at night and cause our pyjamas to get wet, which keeps us from going back to sleep.

In addition to the fabric’s softness, breathability, and ability to swiftly transfer moisture away from your skin, when choosing your new maternity and nursing sleepwear, ensure the seams and tags are smooth and won’t irritate you while you sleep.

Superior Comfort and Fit

While wearing incredibly comfortable sleepwear is always a good idea, breastfeeding and pregnancy make this even more crucial. Finding just the right sleeping position becomes increasingly challenging as the body undergoes changes and the belly grows. Furthermore, not every maternity sleepwear is designed to facilitate effortless nursing. Select nursing and maternity pyjamas with trendy materials that are easy to nurse, grow with you, and accommodate a bump.

Spacious and Relaxed Around the Bust

Wearing loose, non-restrictive breastfeeding pyjamas is essential for maximum comfort and to help prevent mastitis. Steer clear of bust-restricting or boob-cutting styles because your breasts will expand and become extremely sensitive as they adjust to the flow of milk.

Simple Access to Nursing

Newborns eat more often and mums expect to reduce their nightfeeds with time. However, most babies will want to be fed at least once or twice a night for longer. Look for sleepwear with quick, simple, and easy access for nursing. The less fussing about it, the better! Easy-open layers provide a fast and straightforward breastfeeding access design. Buttons and zippers can be tricky and painful against your skin and your baby’s!

Stretchy, Relaxed Bottoms

After the baby is born, your body may continue to change, so it’s critical to maintain maximum comfort during this phase. Steer clear of constricting or too-tight pyjama bottoms. Stretchy waistbands, loose fits, and soft materials are all great for post-c-section recovery!

Chic and Effortlessly Stylish

Having a child can be a crazy experience! It’s common for new mothers to feel pressure to go out and about, but there are also days when they want to stay home, bond with their child, and nurse all day long. And that’s perfectly acceptable, typical, and healthful. On those days, nothing makes you feel more like yourself than stylish pyjamas.

Putting together a cute outfit for a baby is an exciting experience for the new parents as well as for the rest of the...

Putting together a cute outfit for a baby is an exciting experience for the new parents as well as for the rest of the family and friends. These tiny garments look so adorable that we wish they had them in larger sizes. However, when it comes to what’s best for the babies’ sensitive skin, we need to look further than the cute designs. Infants need fabrics that are safe for them, providing comfort and warmth, and there is nothing better than natural materials for that.

There’s a good reason why there has been a growing trend towards organic products, including organic baby clothes. It not only offers numerous benefits for the environment but also for the health and well-being of infants. From the materials used to the manufacturing process, here are several reasons why organic clothing is a preferred choice for many parents.

What Is the Best Type of Clothing for Babies?

Source: Pexels

Natural, organic fibres that have not been treated with any harmful chemicals are the best option for baby clothes. Newborns are especially sensitive to toxic chemicals and can develop rashes or allergies very easily. Since their skin is thinner and more permeable, they can absorb much more from the environment than adults. This means that chemically treated clothes can have potential long-term health consequences. Choosing extra comfy and breathable organic clothing for infant children is the best way to ensure your newborn is not exposed to these harmful substances.

Reasons to Opt for Organic Baby Clothes

Natural and Chemical-Free Materials

One of the key features of organic clothes for newborn babies is that it is made from natural fibres grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Organic cotton, bamboo, hemp, and wool are some of the common fibres used in organic baby clothing. These materials are gentle on the baby’s delicate skin and reduce the risk of allergic reactions and skin irritations caused by harsh chemicals.

Hypoallergenic Properties

Newborns have delicate skin that is highly susceptible to irritations and allergic responses. Organic clothing for infant children, being free from chemicals and toxins, is less likely to cause skin irritations or allergic responses. This is particularly important for little ones who may have eczema or other skin conditions, as organic clothing reduces the risk of exacerbating these issues. If your baby is quite sensitive, avoid synthetic fabrics and opt for organic clothing to keep their skin healthy and free from irritation.

Breathability and Comfort

Organic fabrics are known for their breathability and softness, providing maximum comfort for babies. Fabrics such as organic cotton allow air to circulate freely, helping to regulate body temperature and prevent overheating. This is especially beneficial for newborns who are still learning to regulate their body temperature effectively. When babies are comfortable, they tend to be calmer and sleep better, making organic clothing a great option for both the little ones and parents.

Durability and Longevity

While organic clothing may have a slightly higher upfront cost compared to conventional clothing, it is often more durable and long-lasting. Organic fibres tend to be stronger and more resilient than their conventional counterparts, meaning that organic baby clothes can withstand multiple washes and retain their quality over time. This durability makes organic wardrobe a cost-effective choice in the long run, as parents can pass down garments to younger siblings or even resell them once their baby outgrows them.

Environmental Sustainability

Organic clothing is produced using sustainable farming practices that promote soil health, conserve water, and reduce pollution. Unlike conventional cotton farming, which often involves the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides that can contaminate soil and water sources, organic farming methods prioritize environmental stewardship and biodiversity conservation. By choosing organic clothing for their babies, parents can contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.

Organic Cotton Clothes

Source: Pexels

Cotton has long been a staple in the textile industry, valued for its breathability, comfort, and versatility. When it comes to dressing your baby, cotton clothes offer numerous advantages. Soft and gentle against the skin, cotton is an excellent choice for newborns and infants.

One of the primary benefits of cotton clothing is its absorbency. Babies can be prone to spills, drool, and diaper leaks, and cotton garments help wick moisture away from the skin, keeping your little one dry and comfortable throughout the day.

Cotton is easy to care for and can withstand frequent washing, making it a practical option for busy parents. Whether you’re dressing your baby for a casual outing or a special occasion, cotton clothes offer both style and functionality.

Bamboo Knitwear

Bamboo knitwear is a relatively newer addition to the world of organic baby clothing but has quickly gained popularity for its softness, breathability, and sustainability. Bamboo fabric is derived from the fast-growing bamboo plant, which requires minimal water and pesticides to thrive.

One of the standout features of bamboo knitwear is its luxurious feel. Bamboo fibres are exceptionally soft and smooth, making them gentle on sensitive baby skin. Additionally, bamboo fabric has natural antibacterial properties, reducing the risk of odour and bacterial growth. Bamboo knitwear also offers excellent temperature regulation, keeping your baby cool in hot weather and warm in cooler climates. This makes it an ideal choice for year-round wear, providing comfort in any season.

To Wrap Up

When it comes to choosing clothes for your baby, organic clothing offers a range of benefits for babies, parents, and the planet. Whether you prioritize sustainability, comfort, or both, these options provide excellent choices for dressing your little one. By making informed decisions about the materials you choose, you can create a wardrobe that not only keeps your baby cozy and stylish but also contributes to a healthier planet for future generations.

School supplies, sports kits, toys, clothing items… and kids. Do you see any potential problems? How many water bottles did you go through last year? And what happened to that nice jacket you got for your son? Whose is that jersey in the laundry basket you don’t recognise?

And let’s not even start on school objects. In the hustle and bustle of school life and other activities, keeping track of kids’ belongings can be a daunting task. Things often get misplaced, accidentally swapped, or forever lost. This is where adhesive personalized name labels come into play, offering a simple yet effective solution to this common problem.

Why Do You Need Name Labels?

source: vistaprint.ca

The list of ‘essential’ school equipment is long and pricey, and if you add the extracurricular activities, then it adds up even more. We all want our kids to have everything they need, but when we have to replace lost or misplaced items a few times over the school year it can affect the family budget. On top of that, a favourite toy or a winning jersey is practically irreplaceable.

In situations like that, easy-to-apply personalised waterproof name labels can save you from unnecessary expenses and potential drama. These sticky name tags for kids adhere to most surfaces and are dishwasher-safe. Available in a variety of designs and colours, you can choose unique sets for each family member. This will help kids to identify their belongings from those of their siblings or classmates.

Organisation and Identification

Adhesive personalized name labels are a practical organizational tool, helping children quickly and easily identify their belongings. By affixing these labels to school supplies such as notebooks, textbooks, pencils, and lunch boxes, students can easily identify their items among others, reducing the chances of confusion or loss.

Prevention of Loss

One of the primary benefits of using name stickers is preventing the loss of a particular item. Anything that is clearly labelled with a student’s name is less likely to be misplaced or accidentally taken by someone else. This is particularly crucial in busy school environments where belongings can easily be mixed up or lost.

Promoting Responsibility

Assigning and labelling personal belongings instils a sense of responsibility in young kids. When they know that their items are clearly labelled and easily identifiable, they are more likely to take ownership of their belongings and keep track of them. This fosters important life skills such as organization and accountability.

Cost-Effectiveness

Adhesive school labels offer a cost-effective solution compared to constantly replacing lost or misplaced items. Rather than continuously purchasing new school supplies or clothing items, investing in a set of durable labels can save money in the long run. Additionally, many label providers offer bulk discounts, making it an even more economical choice.

Customisation and Personalisation

source: namelabel4kids.co.uk

These labels allow customisation and personalisation, allowing individuals to express their unique style and personality. With a wide range of designs, colours, fonts, and sizes available, students can choose labels that reflect their preferences and interests, making the labelling process more enjoyable and engaging.

Hygiene and Safety

In shared environments like schools, maintaining hygiene and safety standards is paramount. Adhesive personalized name labels help in this aspect by minimizing the risk of spreading germs or infections. With labelled items, students are less likely to share or mix up belongings, reducing the chances of cross-contamination.

Environmental Implications

Using adhesive personalized name labels can also contribute to environmental sustainability. By preventing the loss of items and reducing the need for constant replacement, fewer resources are consumed in the production and transportation of new goods. Additionally, many label providers offer eco-friendly options made from sustainable materials. Another way to teach your kids the importance of preserving the resources.

Ease of Application and Durability

source: mabelslabels.com

These labels are designed for ease of application and durability, ensuring that they stay affixed to items throughout their lifespan. Look for waterproof name labels that are suitable for dishwashers and washing machines. They are resistant to wear and tear, which makes them suitable for various surfaces including clothing, backpacks, water bottles, and electronic devices.

Versatility

Adhesive personalized name labels are not limited to school supplies and clothing items. They can also be used to label personal belongings in other settings such as summer camps, sports activities, daycare centres, and nursing homes. Their versatility makes them a valuable asset in numerous contexts.

Parental Peace of Mind

For parents, adhesive personalized name labels offer peace of mind knowing that their child’s belongings are properly labelled and less likely to be lost or misplaced. This reduces parental stress and eliminates the need for frequent searches or replacements, allowing both parents and children to focus on more important matters.

Bottom Line

Adhesive personalised name labels play a vital role in promoting organization, responsibility, and efficiency in educational settings and beyond. With their numerous benefits, these labels offer a simple yet effective solution to the age-old problem of keeping track of belongings. Once you incorporate them into your child’s life, both of you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing their belongings are safe, identifiable, and well-organized.

Getting everything ready for your newborn? Or looking for a cute gift for a baby shower? Don’t forget the tiniest but extremely important item...

Getting everything ready for your newborn? Or looking for a cute gift for a baby shower? Don’t forget the tiniest but extremely important item of clothing – cute socks. It might seem like a trivial purchase, but socks will not only keep those miniature toes toasty, but they will also protect sensitive skin and keep the baby comfortable. Newborns need to be warm and even though they are usually dressed in onesies and bodysuits, an extra layer for their feet will keep them cozy and healthy. In the colder months, thicker woolen socks for babies will prevent hypothermia and illness.

When choosing the right infant socks, you should have in mind their safety first. Too many of the products today contain harmful chemicals that lead to serious issues, particularly for vulnerable babies that still don’t have a developed immune system. To make sure they have proper growth and development, it’s best to use natural unprocessed fires such as wool, cotton, and silk, which have the closest structure to human skin.

These materials have been the first choice for the young ones throughout the ages for good reasons, and with the options today you can find the finest organic infant socks that meet the highest standards in natural and ethically made textiles.

Source: ecothes.com

Why Are Socks Important for the Baby?

Babies need some time to adapt to the environment, and this is especially true when it comes to regulating their body temperature. And for low-weight or premature babies, this is even harder since they have less body fat. Keeping their feet warm and cozy in the first few months is very important to make them feel comfortable. If their tiny feet are chilly, they get cold, which can be a reason for not sleeping well.

Another reason to get organic infant socks is to protect their delicate skin. Babies’ skin is much thinner than adults’ skin, so scrapes and cuts can happen quite easily. Not to mention exposure to the fierce sun rays or other elements. The all-natural socks will serve as a protective layer and minimize the possibility of rashes or sunburns.

Once your baby starts crawling and making the first steps, the wool socks will prevent them from slipping and falling, since they provide better traction on smooth surfaces. This is also a way to keep their feet warm and protected if the floor is cold or rough for their young skin.

What Fabric Is Best for Baby Socks?

When it comes to choosing the best materials for an infant it is always smarter to go for natural fibres. Since these are items of clothes that are in contact with their sensitive skin, you don’t want any artificial dyes or possibly toxic substances. Before you know it, you will notice your baby reaching for their foot and chewing on their toes, and if they have socks on, they will be chewing on them too.

Source: popsugar.co.uk

Merino wool has been used for making socks for centuries as it is an excellent temperature regulator. You might associate it with winter and low temperatures, but wool can be worn all year round. It’s breathable, comfortable, and most importantly, healthful. Organic wool is moisture-wicking, doesn’t hold odours, and when not highly processed it contains lanolin that has antibacterial properties. This makes it the top choice for clothing that is worn day and night by babies and children. Another incredible feature of wool is that the fibres actually repel dirt so it practically cleans itself. Therefore, kids’ Merino wool socks can be simply aired for a couple of days and washed occasionally. Good news for the tired new parents.

Organic cotton is very soft and permeable to air with the ability to resist friction and tearing, which makes it extremely suitable for delicate baby skin. It is breathable and good for maintaining foot health. Organic cotton is very soft and gentle on the skin, which makes it ideal for babies. When grown ethically, without the use of toxic chemicals, and according to the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards) the cotton products are both healthy and sustainable with minimal impact on the planet. It can be machine washed at temperatures as high as 95°C and when ironed it becomes even softer and fluffier.

What Makes a Good Sock?

They need to stay on. Those tiny feet need tiny socks that won’t slip off in minutes. Every parent will tell you they have lost more than one while walking outside. If you get a few pairs with tie-on or cuffs that can be pulled higher up to the knee, you can make sure there are no bare feet.

They should fit comfortably. Finding small enough socks that will fit is not that easy, but a lot of babies, on the other hand, have those adorably chubby feet. And if the socks are too tight and leave marks and indentations on their skin, the baby will get fussy and cry.

Source: babysoyusa.com

Non-skid options are great for babies that learn to walk, so the ones with added grip on the sole can prevent accidental slips when they go for those first steps. The silicone rubber dots will provide good traction and protect them from wearing holes quickly.

Toe seams that are hand-linked instead of machine-linked are smaller and not too bulky, so they are more comfortable for the toes. You can also find socks that are completely hand-knitted.

Final Words

Soft, fluffy socks can help soothe a baby. They will warm them up and the gentle pressure can have a calming effect. Not to mention how cute they look. Like everything else you put on your baby, make sure you have good quality natural fibres that are safe and healthy for your sweet bundle. Durable and sustainable products, like the organic kids’ socks that can be passed down to other children and become an heirloom are worth every time.

The biggest responsibility we have as parents is keeping our children safe. Road safety is important for everyone, and our kids aren’t an exception....

The biggest responsibility we have as parents is keeping our children safe. Road safety is important for everyone, and our kids aren’t an exception. In fact, their bodies are still developing, and their bone structure is fragile, which makes keeping them safe in the car even more important. It seems that we care more about this when they’re babies. But, as they grow up, we tend to forget how important it is for them to sit correctly in a car.

Has your child already outgrown their forward-facing car seat? How can you ensure safety for older toddlers and children who aren’t ready to travel without a safety seat yet? There is a simple solution called a car booster seat. What are car booster seats, and why you should use one?

What Are Booster Seats?

source: parenting.com

According to Healthy Children, a division of the American Academy of Pediatrics, “booster seats are for older children who have outgrown their forward-facing seats.”

The same organisation advises that “all children whose weight or height exceeds the forward-facing limit for their car seat should use a belt-positioning booster seat until the vehicle seat belt fits properly.” The recommendations are that children should use booster seats until they’re at least 145 cm tall. Most children will need a good quality kids booster car seat up until they’re between the age of 8 and 12.

Another thing to consider is if your child can sit with their back against the car seat with the knees completely bent over the edge of the seat. If they can, they no longer need a booster seat. If their knees are on the top of the vehicle seat, they likely still need a booster, as it allows your child to sit higher so that the car seat belt fits correctly.

When Can a Child Move From a Car Seat to a Booster?

source: ageas.co.uk

How can you tell that your child has outgrown its facing-forward 5 or 6-point harnessed seat? When is a child ready to move to a booster seat? These are some of the general guidelines:

Physical Signs of Readiness

Every harnessed seat’s instruction manual has listed weight and height limits. When your kid reaches these limits, it may be time to get out of their harness seat.

Another sign is if the top harness slots get below the kids’ shoulders.

If the tops of your child’s ears have reached the top of the seat, they’ve outgrown their current car seat.

Mental Signs of Readiness

Even if your child is old enough and fits within the height and weight range of a kids booster car seat, that doesn’t mean that they are ready to sit in one. Either they can’t sit still or are still wiggly in their seat, they should stay in a harnessed booster, as not sitting correctly can lead to injuries. Once they’re mature enough to sit and act appropriately at all times in their seat, then it may be time to move them to a booster seat. This typically happens when they’re 5 or 6 years old.

Types of Car Booster Seats

source: consumerreports.org

Backless Booster Seat

This is the traditional booster seat that is practically a cushion that elevates your child to the height needed to fit the vehicle seat belt. Some models feature a latch system that you need to install, and some are simple cushions that only need to be put on the seat. Backless booster seats shouldn’t be used in vehicles without headrests and are usually the best option for older children, as they may find other options babyish. These booster seats are lightweight and compact, making them a good option if you change cars regularly and want your child to stay protected in a taxi or grandparents’ car.

High Back Booster Seats

These booster seats have a high back that provides extra support and cushioned wings around the neck, head, and sometimes sides for shock absorption. High back boosters have seat belt guides for easier seat belt regulation, and most models can be secured to the vehicle seat with a latch system. They’re best for smaller children who need extra back and neck support and for the car sleepers. Some models have a removable back, so they can quickly become backless seat boosters when you no longer need the back for extra support.

Combination Booster Seats

These car seats are high back seats with a removable harness 5-point system. They’re perfect if you want to get the best bang for your back when it comes to kids’ safety car seats. They grow with your baby. You can use the harness system as long as possible, and when your child outgrows it, you remove the padding and get a high back booster seat.

What’s the best booster seat for a car? There’s not a right or wrong answer to this question. It all depends on your child’s age and maturity. However, research has shown some excellent reasons to keep your child in a booster seat with a high back for as long as possible.

Why Use a High Back Booster Seat for as Long as Possible

source: thefrisky.com

Life-Saving

Studies have shown that children between ages 4 and 8 that ride in a booster are 59% less likely to be injured in a car crash than those who wear a seat belt alone.

Seat Belt Fit

The belt seat guides that high back booster seats ensure the best belt fit. The lack of guides on backless seats, on the other side, may affect the belt fit at the child’s shoulders. Children are squirmy and move around a lot, which can additionally reposition the seat belt if it doesn’t fit properly. This is unsafe and can lead to injuries.

High back booster seats have tested better at the positioning of the lap seat belt, as well. The backless boosters are the runner up, and the seats that have removable backs showed as worst in the lap seat belt test.

Comfortable Posture

The lack of a booster’s back can affect the way the child seats. This can cause the child not to bend over the edge of the cushion and to slouch over. The child may not be comfortable at all, which can also cause bad posture. This additionally impacts the lap belt shift onto the soft tissue of their abdomen, leading to injuries.

The postpartum period is not an easy time for new mothers. Besides the whole new world of motherhood, breastfeeding is one of the biggest challenges that new mums face. Ideally, every woman wants to have enough milk to keep her little baby full and satisfied at all times. But sometimes that’s not the case. Thankfully, there are ways to increase milk production quickly.

Lactation Cookies

source: bonappetit.com

Many new mums swear by breast milk biscuits when it comes to improved lactation and overall breastfeeding. Many new moms lack milk to feed their baby and sometimes the reasons are unknown. Lactation cookies can be the solution to this problem. Containing galactagogues, breast milk biscuits can help increase the levels of prolactin in the mother’s body. Prolactin is a hormone responsible for milk production. So, the higher the levels of prolactin, the more milk the new mama will have.

Besides galactagogue, lactation cookies also contain whole oats, brewer’s yeast, wheat germ, flaxseed meal, fennel, fenugreek, nuts, chickpeas, almonds and chia seeds. The exact recipe depends on the brand you end up buying since they all vary. The recommended dosage of the breastfeeding cookies is 2-3 cookies a day. You need to keep in mind that although they are made from natural ingredients they’re still cookies and contain calories.

If, on another hand, you want to make the breastfeeding biscuits on your own, make sure you include an organic linseed meal which is one of the key ingredients in all lactation cookies. Lotus linseed meal is a source of omega-3 fats, dietary fibre and antioxidants as well as vitamins E and B, calcium, iron and potassium. Also, include brewer’s yeast that contains proteins and B complex vitamins and is made from 100% inactive yeast. Along with the cookies, you can try the hot chocolate lactation mix and the shakes that come in many flavours – from chocolate and vanilla to strawberry.

Add Lactation Tea to the Mix

Lactation tea is a blend of special herbs that together are believed to increase the milk supply in mothers. It can be used as a supplement during the postpartum period. Among the herbs found in the lactation, tea blend is fenugreek, blessed thistle, fennel, stinging nettle, goat’s rue, moringa and milk thistle. And this blend works more for some women than it does for others. There isn’t 100% certainty that the tea can help in increasing milk production although it helps in many cases.

Lactation tea is brewed the same way as other teas are. And the recommended daily intake is from 1-3 cups a day. It is believed that even if the herbs don’t help increase the milk supply, the extra liquids you drink may do the trick. But, if over time you don’t notice results you should try another method instead of increasing the dosage.

Make Sure You Eat Well

source: gourmet-deliveries.net

Proper diet also plays a big role in the ability of the mother’s body to produce milk. So, this is something you need to pay attention to and one of the reasons to try gourmet food. Everything a mother eats affects the quality and quantity of breast milk. For that reason, try to include as many protein foods as possible.

You should eat protein food 2-3 times a day and that includes eggs, dairy, meat, fish, beans, nuts and seeds. Along with that, you need to eat vegetables as much as you can, especially dark green and yellow vegetables and two servings of fruits. Whole grains should also be included in your diet in the form of whole wheat bread, pasta, oatmeal and cereal.

Many new mothers are concerned about losing the baby weight fast and put some sort of restrictions on themselves when it comes to food, but that’s not the smartest thing to do if you want to produce enough quality milk for your baby. Additionally, breastfeeding burns around 500-600 calories so this combined with food restriction can have a bad outcome.

You should pay special attention to caffeine and alcohol. Most babies aren’t bothered by caffeine but you should have a limit. And when it comes to alcohol, it doesn’t stay in your milk so as long as you’re sober you can breastfeed, but again, be careful with how much you drink.

Breast Massage Can Help Too

source: bebodywise.com

Breast or lactation massage can help with a number of problems related to breastfeeding, starting from producing a small amount of milk, to clogged milk duct and mastitis. There isn’t a special technique that’s being used for performing a lactation massage, quite, on the contrary, it’s the same as any other massage but mothers find it quite beneficial.

Lactation massage can help increase the quality of the milk if performed on a regular. It helps reduce pain related to breastfeeding and improves milk flow. It can also prevent (to some point) stretch marks and saggy breasts. You can use natural oil for a better effect. That includes coconut or olive oil. The duration of the massage should be about 30 minutes using gentle circular motions. You can include the lactation massage in your daily routine or do it two to three times a week.

Relax and Get Some Rest

Stress is the number one cause for many health problems and that includes breastfeeding too. Mothers that aren’t well-rested, that suffer from sleep deprivation and are stressed are more likely to underperform when it comes to breastfeeding. To prevent that from happening you should start taking small naps during the day, preferably at the same time as your baby does. Cut back on caffeine and avoid staying up late at night. And try to manage stress, because it can affect your sleep, your milk production and your mental well-being.

Never be too shy to ask for help. Sometimes you need time for yourself too, so in order to get that you can arrange for a babysitter or someone close to watch the baby. It can be beneficial for both of you because babies can feel when their parents are stressed and that influences them too.

From the moment you become a parent, you will start feeling that maternal instinct everybody is talking about. You’ll want to pamper your baby only with quality products like bamboo bedding and clothes and safe baby skin products.

When the time comes to introduce your little one to solids, you may also find yourself hesitating whether to buy solid baby food or to choose one of the many models of baby food processors, so you could prepare healthy food for your baby. Knowing exactly what will go into your baby’s tummy is best as you’ll be able to tell which foods your little one likes and responds to best.

Reasons to Invest in a Baby Food Maker

source: kjessentials.com

Nutritional Benefits

Thanks to the steaming and blending functions of today’s baby food cookers, you can prepare natural, organic, healthy and tasty meals. Thanks to their tray, these baby food processors can preserve the nutritious cooking juice that can be used for making the food more runny, ideal for babies who are just starting to eat solids. In fact, the whole family can benefit from having a baby food steamer and blender since it can help you create some exquisitely tasty fruit and veggie soups and smoothies.

A Long-Term Investment

Whether you are planning to have another baby or not, a food processor can be used for quite a long time. A quality food maker can help you prepare some tasty and simple dinners for the whole family without taking too much of your time and energy.

Multifunctional and Affordable

These processors for baby food will save you from splurging on a blender or a microwave. Most of them can steam, defrost, blend, warm and even sterilize bottles. That way, you will not only save money but also time, since you won’t have to use different appliances. Not to mention the mess you’ll leave behind when using separately a cooker and a blender.

What Makes All-in-One Processors a Better Choice

source: babylist.com

Besides creating fresh and highly nutritive food, one of the biggest advantages of owning a processor is that you don’t need to pre-cook the veggies. All you need to do is to wash your veggies thoroughly, peel them and toss them in the food processor with the needed amount of water. And before you know it, you will have a ready-to-use baby puree.

Although a little bulky, these processors are worth every penny. Lots of brands have introduced food processors in their line, so the one you will choose will mainly depend on your budget, free space and needs.

Food Processor Buying Tips

source: cooksillustrated.com

Easy to Clean and Dishwasher Safe

Although the electric all-in-one processors are a real treasure, the most important thing to have in mind is choosing an easy to clean and dishwasher safe food processor. This will not only save you more time on cleaning, but it’s also more convenient. Some of the most commonly used materials are stainless steel and chrome.

BPA-Free Plastic

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a harmful compound which when it comes in contact with hot water and food, the plastic could leach some chemicals and toxins. That is why you should avoid buying goods that contain it.

Made of Sturdy Materials

The last but not least thing to have in mind is considering the materials’ sturdiness. They should be 100% unbreakable, otherwise, they could be dangerous. If the food maker is made of breakable materials, some of it could end up in the food.

Most new mommies are wondering is baby food processor necessary. The truth of the matter is, there is no right or wrong answer. It all comes down to your budget and preferences. Experienced moms know just how convenient these pieces of equipment are and love the peace of mind they give them as they know exactly what goes in their baby’s tummy. We suggest you give them a try and see for yourself how your daily routine becomes simpler.

Only those who have felt it know how wonderful breastfeeding can be. The mere thought that a tiny little human being depends completely on...

Only those who have felt it know how wonderful breastfeeding can be. The mere thought that a tiny little human being depends completely on you is mind-blowing. And except for creating that special mother-child bond, breastfeeding has a positive impact on both, the mom and the baby. In fact, according to WHO (World Health Organisation), infants should be exclusively breastfed for the first six months of life. The main reasons for this are optimal growth, proper development and better health.

After this period, babies should be introduced to solid foods appropriate to their age. According to WHO, infants should receive nutritionally adequate and safe complementary foods, while continuing to be breastfed for up to two years or even more.

Now regardless of how amazing and beneficial it is to breastfeed one’s baby, sometimes weaning it might be for the best. While it’s true that some moms don’t even try breastfeeding to avoid saggy boobies, usually, the reasons for weaning a baby are more health-related (both physical and mental).

The Baby Won’t Latch

This might be one of the most difficult reasons for moms to stop breastfeeding their baby. The main culprit for this could be the nurses who haven’t shown the mom how to properly put the baby on her breasts. However, sometimes, it is the babies who simply cannot latch because of numerous reasons. The signs of poor latching are painful breastfeeding sessions and a baby who isn’t satisfied after feeding.

Not Having Enough Support

Breastfeeding is a completely new job for the mom and if she is not that strong and doesn’t have enough support, she might feel lost and overwhelmed by everything. Being a new mom is exhausting, especially if the mom is left all alone with the baby without any support. Usually, resorting to formula is the solution.

Experiencing too Much Physical Pain

Cracked nipples, blocked milk ducts, mastitis – these are conditions most breastfeeding moms deal with. The truth is that all of these things are extremely painful and some moms simply cannot take such physical pain, so they are forced to give up on this journey.

Getting Pregnant Again

Although breastfeeding won’t affect the baby nor the pregnancy, there are some other reasons why moms decide to wean their kids. Sometimes it’s the age of the child (toddler), but most commonly it is the fatigue, nausea and constant tiredness.

How to Stop Breastfeeding?

There really is no right or wrong way to stop breastfeeding your child. Usually, breastfeeding stops gradually as the child grows and eats more solid foods. An important thing to know is that solid food should not replace breast milk since babies still need breast milk or formula as their main source of food at least until their first age of life.

The easiest way to wean a baby is to drop one feed at a time. It really doesn’t matter which feed you’ll drop first which leaves the choice up to you. However, breastfeeding moms usually, decide to stop breastfeeding at night since this is the easiest way for them to fall asleep. So, how to stop breastfeeding at night?

The answer to how to stop breastfeeding at night lies in the techniques. If your baby’s nighttime feed is shorter than five minutes, you can cut the night feeds immediately using some weaning techniques.

Try having longer and more frequent breastfeeds during the day. This means that your baby should be 10mins or longer on the breast.

Try feeding your baby before bedtime. The ideal before-bed food is drinking milk or any dairy-based food as they can help the releasing of Tryptophan which aids sleep.

You can also try to give your baby water instead of a feed during the night.

Cuddles are the best medicine for everything, and baby weaning is no exception.

Go shopping with your baby and find his/her new favourite cuddling toy.

Talk to your toddler about the new rules of breastfeeding. For instance, you can tell him/her that you can breastfeed only when the sun is up. And in case he/she wakes at night, make sure you remind your toddler about the new rules.

Make sure you don’t change the bedtime hour and routine.

Read your toddler a book before going to bed or tell him/her a story even if it’s made up. Children love listening to stories, so they won’t really care if you have made it up or not. Just make sure to remember it as children usually have impeccable memory. This means that the next time you tell your child this story, he/she will want to hear the exact version.

Try letting your partner put your child to sleep. Sometimes it is the smell and the sight of you that reminds him/her of breast milk.

Whatever thing, tip or technique you try, have patience. Rare are the cases when children stop breastfeeding at night from the first try. Usually, it will take several nights for this till you can celebrate your ‘victory’.

How to Stop Breastfeeding a One Year Old at Night?

Whether your baby is one, two or three years old, the procedure for stopping breastfeeding at night is the same. Just use some of these techniques and arm up with patience.

Parents want the best for their kids. But sometimes they can overdo it and provide them with more than they actually need. And this...

Parents want the best for their kids. But sometimes they can overdo it and provide them with more than they actually need. And this is usually the case with clothes. Flooded with love for their baby, new parents often buy tops and other items just because they think their little one will look so cute in them.

But kids, especially babies and toddlers, grow up really fast. And this means that they will grow out of their clothes every few months. As a result, you can easily end up with piles of clothes that you don’t know where to store. And there might not even be enough time for your child to wear some of the clothes. With that being said, more and more parents create capsule wardrobes for their children with only a limited amount of clothes. Here are some reasons you should try this solution too.

You’ll Save Time

When your child has so many clothes, it can be hard to decide what to wear. And this indecision can limit your ability to get your kid ready on time. In addition, having more clothes also means you’ll have to spend more time on laundry, folding and ironing. And when you have a small child, you’re already strapped for time without the clothes aspect to worry about. So, by limiting your little one’s wardrobe to a few well-selected boy or girl tops, bottoms, dresses and skirts, you’ll have less to worry about.

Not to Mention Money

Besides saving time, one of the biggest benefits of creating a capsule wardrobe for your kids is that it saves you money. And raising a child is definitely an expensive responsibility, so you want to save wherever possible. With that being said, it’s essential to spend money on the things that are really worth it. For instance, to prepare your little girl for the summer, you only need to invest in 5-6 durable and versatile short-sleeved girl tops, a couple of shorts and long trousers, a dress or two and two long-sleeved shirts and a coat in case it gets chilly. When she outgrows what she has, or the seasons change, then it’s time to purchase something new. But before that happens, there’s really no need to go shopping.

Your Kid Will Always Be Stylish

There’s always some forethought that goes into creating a capsule wardrobe. When picking out what to include in it, you’re going to limit yourself to pieces that match each other. This way, your children will always be dressed in colour-coordinated outfits. As a result, they will be less likely to experience retrospective embarrassment when looking at pictures from when they were little.

If these reasons are enough to convince you to create a capsule wardrobe, then here are some tips to help you do it.

Cotton is King

Since you’re going to be limiting the number of pieces in your child’s wardrobe, it’s essential that those selected pieces are made of a durable and easy-to-maintain fabric. And since children get dirty a lot, it means that you need to pick a fabric that can withstand all that washing. So, this essentially means sticking to boy or girl tops and bottoms made of cotton. Cotton is resistant to wear, doesn’t fade easily and isn’t very demanding when it comes to maintenance. In addition, cotton can match with a variety of fabrics ranging from denim to knitwear. On the other hand, artificial fibres such as polyester stain more easily and require careful care not to damage them. Plus, any prints featured on boy or girl tops made of cotton tend to be less likely to come off or get damaged during ironing.

Make a List

To resist the urge to buy something your kids don’t really need, make a list of the things they do need before you go shopping for their capsule wardrobe. The list can vary depending on the weather, as well as any activities your child does and how long you want to go before you need to do laundry. Some don’t mind having a 3-day supply of clothes on hand before the next laundry cycle, while others prefer to have a capsule that can last for a week. Consider your lifestyle to create a list that works for you.

Opt for Versatile Designs

The trick to make sure every piece in the wardrobe can be matched with other pieces is to opt for balanced, versatile designs. You can still select a few bolder pieces for special occasions. But it’s best that the everyday wardrobe consists of simple pieces in a specific colour palette. For instance, you can opt for a palette consisting of white, pink, cream and brown for a girl, or one consisting of white, blue and black or brown for a boy. If your child has a favourite colour, focus the capsule wardrobe around that colour and neutrals like grey, white, brown and black.

Every parent wants the best for their child. The minute you find out you’re going to become a parent things start to change as...

Every parent wants the best for their child. The minute you find out you’re going to become a parent things start to change as you realise there’s going to be this delicate tiny human in your life depending on your care.

Often, we tend to get so carried away reading books on understanding babies more, how to put them to sleep, how much they should sleep, that we forget what they sleep on and what they wear is just as important.

Luckily, there’s the bamboo trend that made it big in the last couple of years to show us why choosing the fabrics wisely matters. Given that it’s a moisture-wicking material, much better than cotton even, bedding, baby clothing and bamboo muslin wraps are ideal for the delicate baby skin.

That is, as long as you make sure you buy certified bamboo products (OEKO-TEX 100 certified) so you’d be certain they are organic. Now more to the properties that make it the ideal option for babies, it’s a fabric providing breathability and thermal regulation, so while the baby will stay snug wearing and sleeping on bamboo, it won’t sweat or get uncomfortable.

Due to the antimicrobial agent the plant has, it has a natural resistance to infestation, which is exactly what makes the fabric antimicrobial and antibacterial too. Moreover it has silky soft texture exactly what you need for your little one, without the worries of skin irritation, rashes and allergies.

Other than the products already mentioned, like bamboo muslin wraps there are also organic cloth diapers and carrier wraps. Don’t let the softness tell you otherwise, it’s still a strong and durable material that allows for easy cleaning, even machine washing considering it’s not shrinkable and is as resistant to wrinkles as can be.

Though it used to be more expensive now that it’s become a trend prices have dropped so it’s an investment that wouldn’t affect your budget much. Along with all the reasons it’s good for your baby, it’s important not to forget it’s a sustainable fabric after all which makes it good for the environment too, so what you buy doesn’t harm nature same way other options do.

This comes from the fact it doesn’t require harmful pesticides to grow thanks to being resilient on its own, and additionally there’s no need to expose it to toxic chemicals to turn it into a fabric. Safe for your baby, safe for the planet!
